HOW GREEN ARE YOU?

I don’t think that I’m a green person but I try to care the environment as far as possible.

People learn about environmentally friendly practices of different ways and in different places: in school, in the job, from their parents, in the internet, etc.

I try to incorporate recycling in my habits but if my family or my environment doesn’t help me is really a difficult job. But at least in each end of semester I collect up all the papers that I won’t need anymore (tests, reports, texts, etc.) and I take them to my university to recycle them.

I use my bike to go to near places but to go to faraway places like the University (I live in Maipú), I use the subway or the transantiago because I don’t have a car.

I would like to support an eco-organization but I’ve never done that because I’ve not had the enough time to do this. I want to do many things in this short life!

I would like to plant a fruit tree in my backyard because I love all kinds of fruits! And also this way I will do an ecological action and I will help to improve the planet.

To reduce my carbon footprint I have done some things: First I try to take short showers. Second, when I wash the dishes I turn off the tap to put dishwashing liquid to the dishes and then I rinse all the dishes. Finally I try to take quickly the food of the fridge because I know that the fridge emanates a very toxic gas.

Santiago is a city with high rates of pollution, and the government doesn’t matter this serious problem. The state should create public politics to improve this situation and with this it will improve the quality of santiaguinos’s life too.

MUSIC! (8)

I really love the music; definitely it is one of the best inventions to the human being.

I like different types of music: rock, ballad, dance music (pachanga, cumbia, reggaeton, electronic music, etc), classic music and other kinds of music that I don’t know how to classify. I like all this types of music because I have learned to listen them and enjoy them in their styles and because I listen every kind of music in different occasions. For example, I listen dance music when I’m in parties; in special days like Christmas, New Year, birthdays, or simply when I want to have a fun and happy time alone or with friends.
One of my favorite singers is Norah Jones. She is an American singer-songwriter and occasional actress. I know her music since much time but I like more from 2010 when a gringa friend recorded three CDs of Norah Jones to me. I like her voice and how she in her music mixes the jazz, the soul, pop and even a few of country music. I listen to Norah when I want to relax me.
I think that the music is essential in the life of all human being. Since we were babies we have familiarized with the sounds, the melodies and the music, and this way we to learn to love the music and use it in different moments and contexts and to listen it depending on our states of mind.
Long live the music!

MEMORY LOSS CAN BEGIN FROM AGE 45, SCIENTISTS SAY

The scientists say that the brain begins to lose sharpness of memory and powers of reasoning and understanding from as early as 45.
The confirmation comes from a large study of more than 7,000 civil servants aged between 45 and 70. Men and Woman agreed to undergo verbal and written tests on three occasions over a 10 year period.
The researchers found that the brains of even the youngest were already on the slide. Is very important, say the scientists, because those whose brains appear to deteriorate fastest may be more probably to develop dementia in old age.
Is important to say that there are many very well-educated people in the civil service, but each individual’s educational background was taken into account so that it didn’t influence the results.
The Scientists concluded that deterioration of the brain sets in earlier than most of us would have hoped, but there are things that can be done about it.
Studies show that people with blood pressure, obesity and high cholesterol have higher risk of dementia.
The risk to mental health and wellbeing can persuade people that it is unwise to only take action if and when their bodies and minds break down. Research in this area would help public health experts be even more effective in taking preventative action to protect and improve older people’s heath.

WHAT ABOUT HAPPINESS?

The happiness is a concept very difficult to define; many people throughout history have talked about this topic (philosophers, psychologists, etc.) and all of them think different things about happiness. But I think that we all agree that happiness is a permanent good physical and mental state that all human being wishes to achieve; at least I broadly define the happiness this way.

With my own definition I might to say that there are many things that makes me happy: to do things that I like; to be with my family, friends or any loved one; to help people; to achieve my aims; and a lot of things that even I don’t know that makes me happy. And I’m sure that in the future there will be new things that make me happy too.

I don’t know exactly why for many people is so difficult to be happy, but I think that we all have problems, some more serious than others, however, how we face up the problems depend of us; we must not allow these problems ruin our happiness.

I’m not sure what the statistic says about whether Chile is a happy country or not but I know that this country has one the biggest stress rate in the world and this stress obviously damage the happiness of Chilean people.

And as the popular song says: Don’t Worry, Be Happy!!!
